| Frequently Asked Questions |
How long do coaching sessions last? Coaching sessions normally last between 30 and 60 minutes depending on what your coach offers. Most clients meet with their coaches two, three or four times a month. I offer a 30 or 45 minute session.
How much does a life coaching session cost? Many coaches work on a sliding scale. Coaching can range anywhere from $50 a session to $250 a session depending on the coach. Due to the economic situation in our country I am offering my new clients a reduction in my fees for a 3 month period. I offer several life coaching programs so we can customize a plan that works for you.
Do I have to sign a contract? Some coaches have contracts and some do not. Since I am a licensed social worker I ask my clients to sign the standard agreement the International Coach Federation recommends explaining what coaching is and what it is not. The agreement does not lock the client in for any period of time. It has to do with the client understanding what coaching is.
How and when do I pay my coach? Coaching is paid at the beginning of each month. If you have to miss a session you notify your coach 24 to 48 hours in advance and arrange another time. If the coaching relationship ends before you have had all the sessions you paid for, the coach will refund your money for the sessions you will not be attending.
What is the difference between therapy and life coaching? Psychodynamic therapy focuses on restoring clients to regular functioning. Events in their lives may have caused them to lose hope and they are not maintaining an equilibrium.
Life coaching focuses on the what the client needs, wants and what his/her vision is of where he/she wants to be. Coaching can move people in the direction of flourishing in life. The coach is a partner and together we design steps to move you forward toward realizing your vision.
*If you are severely depressed and are having thoughts of suicide you should contact a mental health professional right away.
Is life coaching done in person or over the phone? I do most of my coaching over the phone. Some coaches meet with clients in person. I take on clients from anywhere in the world! The client is responsible for calling the coach so as long as the client's long distance calling plan allows the client to call the U.S. I am happy to work with people from many countries.
