Life Coaching For Women After Divorce

Women are shaken up and rocked after a midlife divorce and experience many changes.  For all women midlife can feel overwhelming at times so adding the experience of divorce during midlife can send you over the top.  Not only are women dealing with a divorce they may have aging parents that need care and are experiencing physical changes in the way their bodies look and feel.  Let’s face it midlife divorce requires a major life readjustment.

  • For some women who’ve always wanted children but never had any they may feel very alone and panicked that their time for having children has run out.
  • Some women feel financial stress now having to pay all of the bills.
  • If you and your husband shared friends you may be experiencing a loss of some of those friendships.
  • Women who have never lived alone before may have more of hard time coping with being alone than women who have lived on their own.  These women may wonder if they have what it takes to live alone.
  • Although times have changed and 50% of marriages end in divorce many women may experience Victorian era stigmatization as though the role of being a mother and wife defines a woman and is sacred.
  • For women who feel they are only valuable if they are married to a man their recovery from divorce may take longer.  They have to deal with this old mindset in order to be free to learn and grow and continue on their new life journey.
What can you do?  Be kind to yourself and remember you are not alone.  You can rebuild your life after a divorce.  You’ve suffered a very traumatic event and research has shown that after trauma you can experience post-traumatic growth!

Women may try and stop themselves from experiencing emotions buried deep inside.  According to psychologists, women need to freely express their anger and not take the total blame for the failure of the marriage.  This is an important part of their healing.

Life is a journey and after a divorce women can experience a re-birth giving way to a new career, new interests and new friendships.
